Vidikron’s Vision™ Model 80 Projection System Named Electronic House 2005 “Product of the Year”

Ultra-High-Resolution Home Theater Display System Recognized for Brilliant Performance in High-Definition Video Entertainment

UNION CITY, CA – August 2, 2005 – Vidikron today announced that its Vision™ Model 80 Projection System, featuring the VDP-80 Digital Video Controller & Processor, received Electronic House’s 2005 “Product of the Year” Award. The dual-component system has a stunning resolution of 1920 x 1080—the highest available in the consumer market—and a number of features that make it the ideal display system for home theater enthusiasts who demand the best quality picture possible.

“Vidikron is honored to receive Electronic House’s 2005 ‘Product of the Year’ award for the Vision™ Model 80 Projection System,” said Jim McGall, vice president of sales and marketing at Vidikron. “The award is an acknowledgement of our dedication to raising standards for quality in home entertainment. The Model 80 is an outstanding product that has brought our industry-standard image fidelity and processing capabilities into the homes of the most demanding theater enthusiasts.”

Winners were selected by the editors of EH Publishing’s four magazines based on outstanding features, technological innovation, reviews released throughout the year, product demos, installer feedback, and overall value.

Vidikron’s Vision™ Model 80 Projection System features a remarkable new light engine that utilizes three high-definition 1920 x 1080 D-ILA™ (Direct Image Light Amplifier) chips, one each for red, green, and blue for outstanding accuracy across the entire color spectrum. This technology achieves the highest resolution yet attainable in consumer home video systems, with stunning image detail and video fidelity exceeding most of today’s source material.

The Model 80’s three-chip configuration eliminates the flicker and “rainbow effect” that can plague the performance of some single-chip digital video displays. The projector produces 1,050 ANSI lumens of light output (CSMS™ Light Output of 18.1 ft-Lamberts, when measured on screen) and maintains a 2,100:1 contrast ratio to create stunning pictures on even the largest home theater screens.

The VDP-80 Digital Video Controller & Processor accepts virtually any digital and analog source, and uses Vidikron’s proprietary Imagix™ processing to elevate the quality of incoming video programming to match the projector’s tremendous resolution.
